What is "words on wings"? I love having floating frames and wanted to create hand lettering pieces that showcase their transparent beauty. See how the words cast a shadow in the light, making the flourishing do extra duty! You get two for the price of one! Want to create your own? 'Joyn' me in the steps below! 1. First, take a plastic sheet and cut it to size to be able fit the frame of your choice. I used some OHP transparency sheets. 2. Take a piece of paper to do a draft. I did a draft on paper first, in pencil, to see if I like it. For the "Music" piece, I did measurements on paper first so that the 5 lines could fit and could be as symmetrical as possible. 3. Once I am happy with how it looks on paper, I place the transparency piece on TOP of paper and trace out the lettering on the transparency. And the award goes to.... ... Zig Fudebiyori Metallic brush pens! (I know, I know, I have a gift for building up suspense.) While I haven't tried all types of brush pens, I find that it is best brush pen for this purpose. The ink stays in place once it dries, even if you lightly rub against it. See how the "miracles" and "fearless" words are still standing strong amongst their other fallen word compatriots - thanks Zig Fudebiyori! This makes it ideal for framing the transparencies later on. Keep the pieces away from water though! For writing on transparencies, I have tried the - Zebra Fude touch - BB pigma - Sakura koi - Artline Stix brush markers ...and find that the inks from the pens above never dry enough to be smudge-proof. Do note that the ink, when it dries on the transparency sheet, will look less vibrant than how it normally looks like on paper. So don't be too disappointed with the intensity of colour.
